West Bengal Board of Primary Education has conducted the Primary TET examination of the year on 10th December 2023. The work of submission of application form has already been completed. A total of 300,000 candidates will appear in the preliminary TET exam this year. This number is 50 percent less than last time. The number of TET candidates has decreased because B.Ed trained candidates cannot apply.
As per the guidelines published by the Council of Primary Education, the Primary TET exam will be conducted in a total of five subjects. Each subject will have 30 questions and each question will have 1 value. There is no negative marking for wrong answers to these exam questions. There will be a total examination of 150 marks, duration will be 2 hours 30 minutes. To pass, candidates must obtain 60 percent marks. In case of SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PH/DA, EC, Ex-Serviceman and DH (Death-in-Harness) candidates, passing can be done with 55 per cent marks.
Through these guidelines, the Board has again made it clear that qualifying the TET exam does not mean getting a job. This is only an eligibility criteria to get the job.
A certificate will be issued by the board on passing the TET exam. The validity of this certificate will be for the lifetime of the candidate. That is, once one has qualified the TET exam, one can participate in all subsequent interviews (within the specified age limit).
