Dearness allowance: Even if the state government employees win the DA case, will the teachers not get their due DA? Know the correct explanation

Dearness allowance: Government employees of the state are agitating to demand the outstanding Dearness Allowance (DA). The case is also going on in the Supreme Court, the highest court of the country. Currently West Bengal state government employees get 6 percent DA under the Sixth Pay Commission. Whereas central government employees get DA at the rate of 42 percent under the 7th Pay Commission. And this amount is going to increase soon.

Even if government employees win the DA case, teachers will not get their dues? A section of teachers are raising questions regarding this. The case of arrears of Dearness Allowance (DA) of West Bengal Government employees is pending. The matter has been listed that the matter will be heard in the Supreme Court next November.

In this regard, Confederation of State Government Employees President Shyamal Kumar Mitra said that there is no mention of teachers and academic staff in the DA case filed in SAT. Because education and teaching staff are not included in the SAT. Therefore they will not come under SAT. And there is no mention of DA dues for state government employees anywhere in the suit.

Incidentally, the case going on in the Supreme Court against the DA is related to the Fifth Pay Commission. This case has been going on since 2016. Which reached the Supreme Court through the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT), Calcutta High Court. Firstly, the state government won the SAT. Then the state government employees won in the Calcutta High Court.
